SINGAPORE - Two publications under SPH Magazines Pte Ltd's Custom Publishing unit were recently honoured at the Pearl Awards 2014 in New York City.
The Pearl Awards, organised by The Content Council, celebrate excellence in content marketing across print, digital and multimedia platforms, and attracts entries from publishers and content providers from around the world. This year's instalment saw nearly 500 entries from a record 65 different global companies participating in the prestigious awards.
Securing a Gold Award for Best New Magazine (Design) was the inaugural issue of The Johnnie Walker House Edit (TJWHE) while www.silverkris.com garnered a Bronze award for Best Overall Web Design.
Produced by the custom publishing team at SPH Magazines Pte Ltd for leading premium drinks company Diageo Brands BV, the inaugural issue of The Johnnie Walker House Edit (TJWHE) clinched the Gold award for Best New Magazine (Design).
The quarterly journal, designed to look more coffee-table tome than magazine, is distributed to VIP clients at the various Johnnie Walker Houses in North Asia, as well as selected partner locations. Each issue focuses on a theme which pervades the entire magazine. The inaugural and winning issue, which centres on the concept of Fame, included an insightful interview with Jude Law, and other in-depth articles revolving around the concept of celebrity.
In the digital category, www.silverkris.com, the website of SilverKris - the travel magazine of Singapore Airlines - received a Bronze award for Best Overall Web Design. The award comes on the heels of a major website revamp in July 2014. In its new incarnation, the website features web-exclusive stories as well as User Generated Content in the form of SilverKris Explorers, where travellers are encouraged to post their photos, stories and tips online to forge a sense of community with like-minded travel buffs.
Daily content updates are presented in an infinite scroll on the homepage and information is presented in a way that allows for ease of navigation. Together with print, SilverKris' digital editions, which include the fully interactive tablet and the website, form part of SPH Magazines' integrated approach to publishing.
Dora Tay, Senior Editor of Custom Publishing, SPH Magazines, said: "It is truly gratifying for the team to be recognised by the Pearl Awards committee for our efforts with both TJWHE and SilverKris.com. The prestige and honour of being singled out by The Content Council encourages us to continue to aspire to editorial and design excellence with all our custom titles.
