S'pore prankster marks World No Tobacco Day by pouring water on random smokers

SINGAPORE - To mark World No Tobacco Day (WNTD), MerlionTV recorded a four-minute video which apparently shows one of their members pouring water on random smokers.

According to the World Health Organisation (WHO) website, every year on May 31, WHO and partners mark WNTD, highlighting the health risks associated with tobacco use and advocating for effective policies to reduce tobacco consumption.

Uploaded on YouTube on May 3, the video features the prankster in different parts of Singapore, calling out to smokers before dousing them with water and fleeing.

In one segment, he even pushes a man into a swimming pool. In another, he dumps a bucket of water on an older man.

Reactions online have been mixed, with some netizens criticising the prankster's actions and others questioning whether the entire video was staged.

Whether it was staged or not, the video ends on a more serious note, urging smokers and non-smokers alike to stop and discourage smoking.
