SG Heart Map Invites Singaporeans to Share their Special Places and Moments
SINGAPORE - Help create the map of our nation's favourite places! In celebration of Singapore's 50 years of independence in 2015, the SG Heart Map, an SG50 programme, is calling on all Singaporeans to jointly create a collective map of places in our country that defines Singapore as home over the years for each of us.
The initiative was launched by Minister for National Development, Mr Khaw Boon Wan, at the HDB Hub Mall today.
With Singapore's transformation over the past 50 years, everyone would have developed a love for places in Singapore that hold special meaning for them. The SG Heart Map seeks to stitch together a tapestry of these special places that define Singapore as home, as well as give an opportunity for all to share their dreams for the future.
Every story imprinted onto the SG Heart Map will not just be a personal memory.
The places shared by Singaporeans of all generations will be a vivid replay of their experiences in Singapore's physical landscape over the past five decades, enabling us to to celebrate how far we have come.
All the contributions will be curated into a giant composite SG Heart Map, which will be unveiled at the finale in November 2015. This rich tapestry of stories and shared experiences will help trace the development of Singapore from our pioneering years, to today, and project our aspirations and collective identity for the future.
Minister in the Prime Minister's Office, Ms Grace Fu, who is the Co-Chair of the SG50 Environment and Infrastructure Committee overseeing the SG Heart Map project, shared, "I'm sure in every Singaporean's heart, there is that special place which makes your heart race faster, a place that evokes feelings of happiness. SG Heart Map brings that special place in the heart of every Singaporean, and weaves it together into a fabric of collective memories and aspirations where all of us can celebrate the beautiful and special places in our hearts.
SG50 is a significant time of our country's history.
There are many places that we can be proud of, and many beautiful moments in this country. So we hope that Singaporeans will step forward, and build a beautiful SG Heart Map together."
