Spreading kindness

Spreading kindness

From April to August this year, GIIS East Coast campus took part in the Singapore Kindness Movement's Friend of Singa (FOS) programme. The theme was "A nation of kindness starts with one".

Eight FOS ambassadors from Classes 7 and 8 were selected, namely, Mahika Shenoy, Abizer Lashkari, Kavan Arora, Pranav Suri, Dixshant Shree Shreemal, Navya Muthukrishnan, Saanya Chawla and myself.

We had worked as volunteers for the FOS 2014 project and had participated in all the FOS activities. We were guided by our teachers Ms Hannah Propthika and Ms Ashwini K. Deshpande.

We conducted many activities in our school to teach the value of kindness to our fellow students. During the assemblies, we delivered presentations, screened videos and briefed students about our upcoming activities. These included welcoming the tiny tots in K1 and K2 on the first day of school and guiding them to their classes.

I believe that these activities have helped me become a better person and now understand that kindness is a most valuable gift.
