A-strumming good time

Mr Yeo Chuen Eng, 63, a banker, joining other players during a sing-a-long session with the Ukulele Movement on Sentosa yesterday.

The island’s annual Ukulele Festival, its second such, was held at Palawan Beach and offered a day of lively acoustic entertainment.

The performances began at 4pm and continued through the evening till 10.30pm.

The event featured South Korean YouTube sensation Sungha Jung, six-time Grammy award winner from Hawaii Daniel Ho, and local duo Jack and Rai.

Members of the audience were also encouraged to pick up a ukulele of their own at pop-up retailers, participate in free workshops and even take to the stage during open-mic sessions.

And there were of course mobile food trucks for the audience to enjoy a picnic.
