KUALA LUMPUR - When a mother hugged her son as he dropped her off at her office in Bangsar here, she did not know it was the last time she would see him alive.

The 19-year-old student was riding his motorcycle home to Puncak Alam when he slammed into the back of a car along Jalan Syed Putra at about 9.30am yesterday.

Kuala Lumpur staff officer for traffic investigation and regulation Deputy Supt Markandan Subramaniam said Muhammad Syafiq Khairul Annuar was travelling on the left lane of the highway when the Myvi in front of him braked abruptly.

"He could not stop his vehicle in time and crashed into the car, sustaining fatal injuries to his body and head," said DSP Markandan.
