Student sent to girls' home for lying about sex with man

A 15-year-old resident at children's home Gracehaven was on Tuesday sentenced to two years in the Singapore Girls' Home for providing false information to the police.

District Judge Edgar Foo said that the secondary school student would receive treatment from a psychologist there as she needs to understand what is right and what is wrong.

The judge also told the teen's parents that she had been "in the system for a while, especially for her attraction to older people".

The girl, who was sent to Gracehaven as she was deemed to be beyond parental control, claimed in June that a 47-year-old bus driver had sex with her in February.

The bus driver, who was arrested on July 1, maintained his innocence. The girl later confessed that she had lied to get him into trouble out of spite and jealousy.
