Supervisor chopped to death in busy street

A MAN was hacked to death during a horrifying attack in Ipoh, Perak, Tamil dailies reported.

K. Gopinathan, 45, was out shopping for groceries around noon on Sunday when two machete-wielding men tried to attack him.

Gopinathan ran away immediately when he realised the danger but the men chased him through the busy street.

Witnesses reported seeing two men arrive on motorbikes with machetes before chasing Gopinathan. The men caught up with Gopinathan and attacked him savagely. The father of five died on the spot.

The victim worked as a supervisor at a nearby Indah Water sewage treatment plant.

According to his son, Gopinathan's car had its windscreen smashed about three weeks ago. "Investigation led nowhere," he said.
