Suspected rapist nabbed during ops

SUBANG JAYA - A suspected rapist was nabbed during a joint operation by Subang Jaya and Serdang police.

The Ops Cantas Khas, which was launched on Thursday night, saw 309 policemen from both districts manning road blocks and patrols in a bid to make the streets safer.

Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Ramli said its 159 police personnel were involved in the operation held from 9pm to 1am.

"We checked 261 vehicles and 472 people. We arrested a man believed to be involved in a rape case in Bukit Puchong.

"We also arrested a man in possession of a parang and another with pornographic videos, and 10 suspected drug addicts," he said, adding that 31 illegal immigrants were also detained.

A total of 68 traffic summonses, he said, were also issued for various offences.

During the operation, a restaurant, cyber cafe, karaoke outlet, house and VCD shop were also checked, after which the Subang Jaya Municipal Council issued five summonses for operating businesses without licence as well as allowing a minor into a karaoke outlet.

Serdang OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Razak Elias said a total of 250 people were checked during the operation in the district.

"A total of 150 police personnel were involved as well as personnel from the National Registration Department, the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission and United Nations Commissioner for Refugees," he said.
