Taiwanese playboy Justin Lee jailed 79 years for rape

Taiwanese playboy Justin Lee has been sentenced to 79 years and 7 months in jail for rape, reported Shin Min Daily News.

He was found guilty of abducting a number of women home, videotaping them in sex acts, and raping nine of them.

The women - some models and starlets - were either drunk or unconscious when he took them back from nightclubs and other places.

Then he sexually assaulted them, taping the acts without their consent or them knowing.

Taiwan's High Court meted out the most severe punishment on the wealthy scion - several times harsher than the earlier sentence given by a district court.

The socialite son of ex-Yuanta Financial Holding board member Lee Yue-chang, needs to only serve 30 years in jail as that is the maximum penalty for those charges, said the court.

In addition, he has to pay his victims compensation amounting to 27.45 million Taiwan dollars (S$1.15 million).

Police found the sex videos on his computer and handphone in 2012.

He refused to cooperate with their investigation and was on the run for a few weeks.

He surrendered to the authorities after 23 days.
