TAIPEI - The naked body of a teenage girl was discovered yesterday in Hsinchu County, with preliminary investigation revealing that the girl was likely sexually abused before being beaten to death by culprits whose ages range from 9 to adulthood.
Early yesterday, the victim's corpse was discovered in a bush under the Jhulin Bridge in the Zhudong Riverside Park of Hsinchu County.
Following preliminary investigation, authorities brought in a number of individuals of interest for questioning, revealing that the victim was likely beaten to death by a group of people. The group includes two unnamed elementary schoolgirls aged 9 and 11.
The statement given by interviewees led the police to conclude that the murder developed from the rumour that someone was going to harm a woman surnamed Huang at an Internet cafe frequented by both the victim and Huang.
The rumour was first told by the two young girls to a 19-year-old with the last name He. The three allegedly assumed that the rumour was a provocation from the victim, and went on to deliver the message to Huang.
According to the police, the girls discovered the victim in the Internet cafe on the evening of May 17. The girls then notified Huang who arrived on the scene with her husband surnamed Lin, He, and a man with the last name Ku.
Following a confrontation, the victim was dragged to a nearby elementary school where she was beaten.
Evidence revealed that the victim was then taken underneath the Jhulin Bridge, where she endured sexual abuse before again being beaten, this time until death.
While detailed information regarding the case is not yet certain, the authorities are reportedly sure that the victim was sexually assaulted by He and Ku.
The police are currently conducting interviews and investigations.
