Taxi driver hurt in Pasir Ris crash dies from injuries

SINGAPORE - A taxi driver who was involved in an accident along Pasir Ris Drive 3 on Saturday has died, according to a Facebook post by MP for Pasir Ris-Punggol GRC Zainal Sapari.

He wrote that he was "saddened to hear the news that the taxi driver involved in the accident had succumbed to his injuries and passed away".

"Family shared that their father has been driving taxi for a long time and is a very careful driver.

"Hopefully, the police investigation will shed light on this accident.

"Best for public to stop speculating and offer our sincere condolences to the family instead," Mr Zainal wrote.

The accident happened along Pasir Ris Drive 3, near Greenview Secondary School, at about 1.30pm on Saturday.

The video, which was captured by Mr Zainal's dashcam, showed a taxi driver rear-ending a car at high speed, before crashing into a tree.

Mr Zainal shared the footage on his Facebook page, calling the crash 'horrific'.

Three people were conveyed to Changi General Hospital, according to the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF).
