Taxi info system goes on trial

Technologies such as heat sensors and cameras are being deployed at seven taxi stands here to better match taxi supply with demand, said the Land Transport Authority (LTA).

The taxi stands are located at HarbourFront Centre, Hitachi Towers, Keck Seng Tower, Lucky Plaza, Ngee Ann City, OG People's Park and VivoCity, said LTA in a statement yesterday.

It added of the year-long trial of the Taxi Information System (TIS): "With the TIS, taxi drivers can reduce empty cruising while commuters can also look forward to shorter taxi waiting times."
