Teacher molested him twice, says pupil

The boy accused a teacher from his school of molesting him, but admitted in a police statement that he reciprocated when the man kissed him in March last year.

He also said that it was the second time it had happened and that an earlier act of molest had taken place sometime between January and February that year.

On the third day of a trial involving the primary school teacher, 33, accused of molesting four boys, the court heard that the then 12-year-old boy made a police report on Aug 27 last year about his ordeal.

The teacher, who taught mother tongue and was in charge of a uniformed group in the school, cannot be named due to a gag order.

Investigation officer Senior Staff Sergeant Norazmin Yap, who took the stand yesterday, said that the boy said in the report that the teacher molested him on March 16 last year.

It happened in the physical education store of the school in the west.

"I was informed by three of my friends that they encountered the same incident with (the teacher)," said the boy in his report.

FACING 8 CHARGES

The teacher, who has been suspended from his duties, faces eight molest charges in all, involving the four boys who were then between 10 and 12 years old.

He is accused of hugging and kissing them in 2011 and last year. He is also accused of touching one of the boys inappropriately.

The trial resumed Thursday.

If convicted of molest, for each charge, he can be jailed up to five years, or fined or caned or given any combination of such punishments.
