Team Singapore diver Mark Lee injured in training accident
Team Singapore diver Mark Lee (bottom), injured his foot in an accident on Saturday morning, said a statement from the Singapore Swimming Association.

SINGAPORE - Team Singapore diver Mark Lee was injured on the morning of Saturday, August 30, during a training accident at Toa Payoh Swimming Complex.

In a statement on Saturday evening, the Singapore Swimming Association said Lee, 20, hit his foot on the diving board during a dive and was taken to the hospital. He received surgery the same afternoon.

Said the statement: "The Singapore Swimming Association (SSA) has informed Sport Singapore and the Singapore National Olympic Council of the accident. The SSA is monitoring the situation and will provide updates when they are available.

"Mark is due to compete in the 1m and 3m springboard events as well as the synchronised 3m springboard event at the 2014 Asian Games.

"At the 27th SEA Games 2013 in Myanmar, Mark created history by winning Singapore's first diving medal since 1985 with a silver in the individual 3m springboard event.

"He also came in 2nd in the synchronised 3m springboard and 3rd in the synchronised platform events, together with his twin brother Timothy Lee.

"The SSA wishes Mark a speedy recovery from his injury."
