An oil company technician who tried to get his former girlfriend to sleep with him by threatening to post online pictures of them having sex was jailed for nine months yesterday.
Mohammad Hairudy Abdul Hamid, 27, also secretly filmed 11 women when they were using bathrooms or toilets, a court heard.
Hairudy and his then 24-year-old girlfriend filmed themselves making love several times before they broke up in November 2011.
He later told her he had deleted the footage, but on Aug 19 last year she received images of them in compromising positions.
Hairudy texted her, threatening to post the images online unless she agreed to have sex with him. She refused and made a police report.
After his arrest, police seized his laptop. It contained video footage of a 30-year-old woman bathing in her flat.
The court heard that Hairudy was a friend of the woman's brother and visited their flat regularly. He used a lighter-like hidden camera.
Investigations also found Hairudy had taken video footage of a 25-year-old teacher using his toilet on three occasions between September and December 2012.
He committed two similar offences with a girlfriend at a party at Swissotel and a sales assistant friend at Hotel 81 in Chinatown. He admitted to criminal intimidation and six charges of insulting the modesty of women.
District Judge Jasbendar Kaur said he had caused the women "extreme distress". He could have been jailed for up to two years and/or fined for criminal intimidation; and jailed up to a year and/or fined for each count of insulting modesty.
