Teen transvestite tries to extort $50 from man

SINGAPORE- When a man sent naked photographs of himself to a teenage transvestite, the latter tried to extort $50 from him.

After the victim made a police report, the teen, Ryan Raj, 17, made matters worse by pretending to be someone else to a police officer.

The court heard yesterday that Ryan, a transvestite using the alias "Sarreka", started communicating with the 25-year-old man on social networking website Alamak Chat in September.

After exchanging telephone numbers, they arranged to meet. The man also sent Ryan naked photographs of himself and Ryan offered to perform oral sex on him for $10.

When they met, the man gave the teen $10, but they merely chatted and did not engage in any sexual activity.

They kept in touch on WhatsApp, a social messaging service. About a week later, Ryan texted the man on WhatsApp to demand $50 or he would upload the naked photographs on the Internet.

The man made a police report on Sept 24.

When the police went to Ryan's home the next day, he used his cousin's name to identify himself to Station Inspector Koh Boon Yong.

Ryan pleaded guilty to one count of extortion and one count of providing false information to a public servant. He will be sentenced on Dec 26.

The court also heard that Ryan had absconded from the Singapore Boys' Home, where he had been sent to for two years in May last year.

He was granted a discharge not amounting to an acquittal for the charge of escaping from the home.
