SUNGAI BULOH - Rajthevan Rajamanikam, a 41-year-old former gangster who is believed to have shot a man dead at a Kuang temple last Saturday, was dating his victim's 14-year-old sister.
Police said they were still on the hunt for Rajthevan, who goes by the nickname "Thundercat" while his underage lover had been called in to assist in investigations.
Sungai Buloh OCPD Supt Junaido Bujang said the girl's brother, Vijendran Mohan @ Takali, and a friend had allegedly confronted Thundercat over a disputed construction deal, while the latter was praying at the Sri Vinay-gar Temple in Kampung Ladang Baru Sg Pelong, at 7:45pm last Saturday.
A fight ensued and Rajthevan is said to have pulled out a gun, shooting Vijendran, 25, in the head and waist, killing him on the spot.
Vijendran's friend is in a coma at the Sungai Buloh Hospital after being shot in the chest and back.
The suspect fled in a Mitsubishi Pajero.
"We have learnt that the suspect is a divorcee and had been dating the victim's 14-year-old sister. We have brought her in to assist the investigation.
"However, the girl is understandably traumatised and is too scared to say anything," he said, adding that the slugs recovered from the victim were 9mm bullets, commonly used by police.
He said police had also recorded statements from several witnesses, mostly women, who were there for a prayer session.
