Sukanya allegedly caused the death of Mr Lee at the flat in North Bridge Road

A Thai woman was charged in court yesterday with the murder of a man at a flat in North Bridge Road on Sunday.

Sukanya Praphuttha, 41, is alleged to have caused the death of Lee Yang Boo, 55, at the unit in Block 8 between 12.32am and 4.39am that day. The charge was read to her by a Thai interpreter.

When she was taken to the State Courts, she was clad in a sleeveless blue dress.

She changed her attire to a dark-coloured T-shirt and bermudas when she appeared in court.

According to a statement, police were informed that a man had fallen in the flat at 4.39am.

He was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital and pronounced dead about an hour later.

The prosecution applied for Sukanya to be remanded at Changi Women's Prison for psychiatric assessment.

The next mention of her case will be on March 24.
