Three housing concepts unveiled

Three new housing concepts at Marina South, Kampong Bugis and Holland Village were announced on Monday.

The concepts are part of the Urban Redevelopment Authority's Draft Master Plan 2013.

The key focus of the plan is to build townships that are green, connected and strong in community spirit, and to bring quality jobs closer to home.

Kampong Bugis

Fenceless, eco-friendly, car-reduced concept with 4,000 housing units.

Served by Kallang and Lavender MRT stations.

Seamless pedestrian connectivity.

Car-sharing and bicycle-sharing schemes to be encouraged.

Waterfront living - close to Rochor Canal and Kallang River.

Development estimated to start after 2016.

Total land development area: 18ha.

Holland Village

Extension of current Holland Village, with 1,500 housing units.

Enhanced appeal, with mix of retail, services and F&B options.

Underground parking station and access road that will ensure ample parking and divert vehicles from centre of Holland Village.

New public spaces such as urban plazas and community park.

Development estimated to start in 2015.

Total land development area: 6ha.

Marina South

Fenceless mixed-use development, with 9,000 housing units.

Served by an integrated transport hub and two future Thomson Line MRT stations, with an 800m-long pedestrian street with an underground mall spanning the two stations.

Elevated landscape walkway from Bay South Gardens to seafront.

Underground network of carparks to reduce cars on the road.

One of the most environmentally friendly districts - 30 per cent more energy-efficient.

Development estimated to start after 2017.

Total land development area: 21.5ha.
