SINGAPORE - The New Paper's Judith Tan won a joint-silver at the Asian Media Awards ceremony in Bangalore, India, on Wednesday night.

Her report, "Source. Messages. Scandal" (Dec 13, 2012) on the extramarital affair of Mr Michael Palmer, who resigned as Singapore's Speaker of Parliament, earned the silver for the best in the editorial content category.

Ms Tan expressed surprise when told of the award, organised by WAN-IFRA, an organisation representing more than 18,000 publications, 15,000 online sites and over 3,000 companies in more than 120 countries.

Sharing the silver was The Straits Times for its story on the gang rape of an Indian student last December.

South China Morning Post took the gold.
