Tangerang Police confirmed on Wednesday that they had received a report about an alleged rape against a 3-year-old girl. The report accused the girl's 17-year-old uncle as the perpetrator.
"We received the report this morning," Tangerang Police detectives chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Sutarmo said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
Sutarmo said the girl's parents had first discovered what had happened when their daughter complained that she had some pain in her genital area.
"The parents took her to a Puskesmas [community health centre], where the doctors said her genitalia had sustained injury, adding that they suspected she had been subjected to a sexual assault," Sutarmo went on.
The girl later told her mother that her uncle had attacked her.
