Transport Minister Lui Tuck Yew to make working visit to Germany and Poland

SINGAPORE - His first stop will be in Leipzig, Germany, where he will meet and exchange views on transport development with his counterparts from other countries. He will also discuss opportunities for enhanced transport cooperation between Singapore and other states, and also between ASEAN and other regions.

Here is the statement from the Ministry of Transport:

Minister for Transport Mr Lui Tuck Yew will be making a working visit to Leipzig and Warsaw, from 20 to 23 May 2014.

Minister Lui will be participating in the 2014 International Transport Forum (ITF) Annual Summit to be held on 21-23 May 2014 in Leipzig, Germany, at the invitation of Mr Frédéric Cuvillier, France's Secretary of State for Transport, Marine Affairs and Fisheries.

During his visit, Minister Lui will be meeting his counterparts to exchange views on transport developments and explore the opportunities for enhanced transport co-operation between Singapore and other States, and also between ASEAN and other regions.

In Warsaw, Minister Lui will sign an Open Skies Agreement (OSA) between Poland and Singapore, with Ms Elżbieta Bieńkowska, Poland's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure and Development.

Under the OSA, designated airlines of both sides will be able to fly between Singapore and Poland, via and beyond to any third country, without restrictions in capacity, frequency, or aircraft type.

Minister Lui will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Transport, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore, and the Land Transport Authority of Singapore.
