According to a Lianhe Wanbao report on Saturday, the Chinese national and his wife Madam Weng Yandan uploaded photos of their holidays in Hong Kong and Japan, as well as a dinner at Jumbo Seafood restaurant on Dempsey Hill and a visit to Universal Studios.

On Sunday, the Chinese evening daily detailed posts made by Madam Weng on her Weibo account which flaunted presents that Mr Yang had bought for her.

One such gift was a red Prada bag, which reportedly costs at least $3,500, according to Wanbao. Madam Weng captioned the photo uploaded in August 2013: "Received a birthday gift from my husband two weeks early, in my favourite colour, I love it, thanks hubby!"

Besides the luxury handbag, she also received a digital SLR camera from Mr Yang, according to a photo uploaded on March 2 this year.

Madam Weng also called her husband 'vain' in one post, which was accompanied by a photo of skincare products Mr Yang had bought for himself. Madam Weng said he had rushed out to buy them after she casually remarked that his skin 'was starting to sag'. The haul reportedly costs more than $2,000.

In another post, Madam Weng also mentioned that she only uses lipsticks from luxury brands, reported Wanbao.

Introduced wife as his 'friend' in front of elderly widow

According to a neighbour who spoke to Wanbao, Mr Yang had introduced Madam Weng as 'a friend' to elderly widow, Madam Chung Khin Chun.

The neighbour, Linda, said the elderly widow, Madam Chung Khin Chun, had once instructed her maid to cook dinner for Mr Yang, whose flight from China was delayed. Madam Chung added that his 'friend', referring to Madam Weng, had told her to do so. That was when the maid realised that Madam Chung had the impression Madam Weng was only a friend to Mr Yang.

Madam Weng and Mr Yang also slept in separate bedrooms within the same house for five years. According to a previous report, Madam Weng said this was so Mr Yang could take care of Madam Chung.
