Two foreign workers arrested for rioting

Two foreign workers, aged 23 and 46, were arrested for their alleged involvement in a case of rioting at Old Jurong Road.

At about 9pm on Apr 27, the police had received a report from a 41-year-old foreign worker that he was assaulted by his co-worker and several of his associates.

Police investigations reveal that the victim had a dispute with the 46-year-old worker over work-related issues before it escalated and the assault occurred.

The two suspects were arrested after the police had ascertained the identities of both men.

Efforts are on-going to apprehend the other suspects.

If found guilty the suspects can be jailed up to 7 years and are also be liable for caning. Foreigners who committed serious offences are liable to be repatriated if found guilty and convicted.
