They had come to Singapore to work.
But their lives here ended tragically in a room in Hotel 81 Palace at Lorong 16 Geylang.
The bloodied and partially dressed body of a 29-year-old Indonesian woman and the fully dressed body of 31-year-old man, an Indian national, were found in a room on the third storey of the hotel on Sunday, Feb 1.
Both were work permit holders.
The New Paper understands that bloodstains were found in several parts of the room.
When TNP arrived at the hotel at about 10.30pm, police cars were seen outside the hotel, which was not cordoned off to the public.
Police officers could be seen questioning hotel staff at the reception.
Guests, who were seen leaving and entering the hotel, told TNP they had no idea what had happened and they had heard nothing out of the ordinary during their stay.
Mr Andrew Fock, 25, who went to the hotel at about 10pm to enquire about room rates, said he found out something was wrong only when he saw police officers there.
"I saw police interviewing a woman and they were speaking in Mandarin," he said.
"I heard that she had seen bloodstains at the third storey."
A staff member at the hotel declined to comment when approached by TNP.
The police were alerted to the case at around 7.45pm, said a spokesman.
Paramedics pronounced the man and woman dead at the scene.
Police are investigating the unnatural deaths.
