Two men arrested within 24 hrs with aid of police cameras

SINGAPORE - 10 hours was all it took the police to arrest a molester, from the time the outrage of modesty was reported.

The incident happened to a 26-year-old woman on Sept 25 in the vicinity of Commonwealth Crescent. A police report was lodged immediately.

After conducting extensive ground enquiries and reviewing police cameras mounted in the vicinity, Clementi police division officers arrested the 26-year-old man around Commonwealth Crescent at 8.10 pm the same day.

The suspect will be charged in Court on Sept 27. Upon conviction, the suspect may be jailed for up to two years or fined, and also be liable to caning.

In a separate incident, a 22-year-old man was arrested for a case of aggravated outrage of modesty in the vicinity of Bedok North Road.

On Sept 25, the suspect followed the victim to her block and molested her before fleeing from the scene.

Bedok police division officers established the identity of the culprit through the aid of police cameras installed at the void deck of the HDB block.

The suspect was arrested in the vicinity of Bedok North Ave 4 within 24 hours from the time of the report, on Sept 26 at about 2 pm.

The suspect will be charged in Court on Sept 27 for an offence of aggravated Outrage of Modesty. If convicted, he shall be punished with imprisonment for a term of not less than three years and not more than 10 years and caning.
