Two daytime fights broke out at Victoria Food Court at Lorong 23 Geylang over the weekend.
The first involved a man, 40, who was beaten unconscious at about 5pm on Saturday. He was later taken to hospital.
Chinese evening daily Lianhe Wanbao reported on Tuesday that the argument apparently started because the victim was being too loud.
Another man went up to him, persuading him to quiet down without success.
He was then attacked.
In the second incident, a man was beaten up by six others at about 1.30pm on Sunday for verbally harassing a woman who was going around selling lottery tickets, reported the paper.
The man had reportedly asked her to split her earnings with him and when she refused, an argument followed.
The Chinese paper reported that bystanders, unhappy with the way he was treating the woman, stepped forward to confront him, resulting in the man getting knocked out and rushed to hospital.
When The New Paper visited the coffee shop on Tuesday, it was business as usual. When asked about the incidents, stall owners declined to comment.
