Two nabbed for setting motorcycles ablaze

JOHOR BARU - Three motorcycles were torched in a morning incident at the Bandar Selesa Jaya flats.

Two men, aged 20 and 36 years, were nabbed less than seven hours following the 4.40am incident yesterday, which the police believed was a result of jealousy or revenge.

Nusajaya district police chief Supt Noor Hashim Mohamad said they were looking for two other suspects in the case, which is being investigated as mischief by fire under Section 435 of the Penal Code.

Damage to the burnt bikes was estimated to be around RM8,000 (S$3,075).

Supt Noor Hashim said one of the victims heard cries for help at around the time of the incident.

"He peeked out of his window and saw his bike and two others in flames.

"He rushed down and with the help of other residents, quickly put out the fire," Supt Noor Hashim said.
