Two women fined for attacking neighbour

SEREMBAN - Two women, who attacked a neighbour for allegedly posting unpleasant remarks about them on Facebook, were fined RM1,500 (S$575) each by a magistrate's court here for causing hurt.

Magistrate Mohamad Izwan Mohamed Noh set the fines after Melor Abu Bakar, 51, and Maziah Samion, 31, pleaded guilty to the offence.

They were charged under Section 323 of the Penal Code for deliberately causing hurt to Saridah Sohib, 39, at her house in Taman Mulia, Mantin, at 10pm on Feb 21.

Before passing sentence, Mohamad Izwan advised the women to be in control of their emotions.

"You should always resolve whatever differences you have amicably.

"Your children have grown up and it is not nice for them to see their elders engaged in petty fights," he said.

Prior to that, Melor told the court that on the day of the incident, both Maziah and her had gone to Saridah's house to sort the matter out.

However, they soon got into a heated argument and this led to a fight causing Saridah to suffer bruises to her face and hands.
