Unmanned boat to help chart water quality in Marina catchment
Rowing enthusiasts enjoying their afternoon at Marina Reservoir on 29 September 2012. Marina Reservoir, a body of water that encompasses Kallang Basin and Marina Bay, mainly functions as a freshwater reservoir, harvesting stormwater and water from five rivers that run into it to augment Singapore's water supply.

Designed and built by students from Ngee Ann Polytechnic's School of Engineering, the boat is chock full of sensors to indicate how polluted the waters are. Sensors measure pH levels - how acidic or alkaline they are - as well as the amount of dissolved oxygen in them.
