VETERAN Oli deejay Bamah Balakrishnan who ruled the airwaves and the hearts of listeners has died.

Bamah, 59, who suffered a heart attack, was with MediaCorp's Indian radio station, Oli 96.8FM, for 39 years and was well known among the Indian community.

She produced numerous radio programmes, ranging from children's programmes to entertainment and cooking.

A versatile personality who had a lot of passion for the Tamil language, she had written and acted in various radio, TV and stage dramas and was a key speaker at public forums. She is survived by her son.
