Vivian Balakrishnan to attend climate change forum in Washington

Minister for the Environment and Water Resources Dr Vivian Balakrishnan will attend the 21st Major Economies Forum (MEF) on energy and climate in Washington D.C. for two days, from April 19 to April 20.

The MEF was initiated by the US back in 2009 and it brings together 17 major economies to discuss matters regarding the international climate change negotiations under the United Nations Framework Convention for Climate Change (UNFCCC).

The upcoming meeting will be hosted by the US and those in attendance will discuss about the new global climate change agreement that is set to be adopted in Paris at the end of this year.

Minister Balakrishnan will be accompanied by officials from the Ministry of Environment and Water Resources as well as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
