KOTA KINABALU - One of six men wanted by the Eastern Sabah Security Command (Esscom) for alleged involvement with cross-border crimes in the east coast of Sabah has surrendered himself to the police.

Esscom commander Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun said the man, Wahab Atab, 34, from Kampung Balimbang Semporna, went to the district police station after finding out he was wanted by the police.

"He (Wahab) knew about this after watching the news on television on Sunday night and appeared at the station at about 11.50am Monday to facilitate probes into our investigations," he said.

Rashid said the remaining five men, namely Badong, Bocai, Ali, Nikson (Nilson) and Alex were still being hunted.

Ali, Badong and Nikson have been identified as among the five notorious Muktadir brothers whom police believe are key players in kidnap-for-ransom groups targeting victims in Sabah.

"We hope the rest of these wanted men will come forward as soon as possible," Rashid added.
