SINGAPORE - A woman was charged with eight counts of abusing her Indonesian maid, including biting her, on Tuesday.
Ngoa Choi Yin, 47, allegedly hurt Ms Siti Nurbayah in her apartment at Beauty World Plaza between May and October last year.
Most of the charges accuse her of slapping the maid.
The Singapore permanent resident is also said to have pounded the maid on the back on two occasions, and bitten her on the body and forefinger.
Six of the alleged abuses occurred between Oct 24 and 27.
In one of the incidents, Ngoa allegedly slapped the maid twice on the cheek, kicked and punched her in the abdominal area.
Ngoa faces a jail term of up to three years and/or a fine of up to $7,500 per charge. Her case has been adjourned to Sept 17.
