KOTA KINABALU - A mother of one from China was arrested after she was found carrying nearly 1.4kg of syabu stored in a rice cooker at the Kota Kinabalu International Airport Terminal I.
State Customs Department director Datuk Janathan Kandok said the 26-year-old arrived at the airport at about 6.30pm on a flight from Hong Kong on Monday.
She was here on transit, bound for Kuala Lumpur the same night, he said, adding that the woman had carried nothing but a box containing the rice cooker when Customs officials caught her.
They found five packets of drugs stored neatly in the under parts of the rice cooker, he said.
Janathan said she travelled on her own and was believed to have entered the state for the first time based on records on her passport.
It is understood that the woman's husband and one-year-old daughter are waiting for her to return to her hometown in a couple of days.
This is the third drug smuggling case involving Chinese nationals arrested at the Kota Kinabalu airports.
The other cases happened on June 22 and July 6.
