Woman covered in blood sent to hospital after she was robbed on Orchard Rd

SINGAPORE - A woman was found lying on the pavement with her face covered in blood after getting robbed on the streets of Orchard Road on the morning of Jun 16, 2014.

According to a report on Shin Min Daily News, the incident took place outside Palais Renaissance shopping mall at around 6.50am.

When reporters arrived on the scene, they saw traces of blood on the pavement and among the grass near the road. Six to seven police officers were also inspecting the area.

The police brought away two plastic bags, one of which contained two watches and a camera. They also found a pack of cigarettes and a baseball cap at the scene.

An eyewitness working at a food stall nearby said she saw a man and a woman in a heated argument when she passed by at 6.45am.

"The woman was shouting at the man and looked agitated. The man was expressionless and did not have much of a reaction," she said.

Around 15 minutes later, another food stall assistant saw the woman lying on the pavement with her face covered in blood.

It is understood that the woman, who is in her 30s, had been attacked and robbed.

Due to her injuries, the woman was unable to answer any questions or give a statement. She was sent to hospital while conscious.

Police have confirmed the incident as a robbery.
