Woman fends off snatch theft attempt

MALAYSIA - This shocking video shows snatch thieves in a car at an intersection catching their victim off guard.

In the incident, which happened in Desa Aman Puri, Kuala Lumpur, a woman was walking past the stationary car when a man in the front passenger seat suddenly opened the door and tried to snatch her gold chain.

She put up a struggle and managed to fend off her attacker.

The man ducked back into the car, which sped off, The Star reported.

It is not known whether the attackers managed to get the chain.

The incident, which took place at about 12.30pm on Tuesday, was recorded by another motorist who had a camera mounted on the dashboard of his car.

CRIME AWARENESS

Mr Lim Kwee Han, the motorist, submitted a copy of the video to the Malaysian Crime Awareness Campaign (MCAC).

The MCAC uses its Facebook page to propagate crime awareness. It started about a year ago and has about 60,000 likes.

A police spokesman said no report was lodged. The spokesman urged the victim to come forward.
