Woman jailed for assault, taking Ice

She was part of a group that beat up a French expatriate after he asked her best friend - a prostitute - for anal sex.

For voluntarily causing grievous hurt to Mr Didier Moise Dominguez and taking the drug Ice, Nur Azilah Ithnin, 20, was jailed for 22 months on Monday.

A third charge of stealing $1,920 worth of items from Mr Dominguez's apartment at Marina Bay Residences was taken into consideration during sentencing.

The court was told the cases involving her four alleged accomplices, Veronica Patricia Rio, 19; Ahmad Habiibul Hakim Assalafi, 19; his sister,Nuurul Aliyyah Abdul Talib, 23, and Malcolm Graham Head, 33, are pending.

Mr Dominguez, a product line manager, had seen an online advertisement on March 3 for a prostitute whose services included "anal service".

When he called the number, he spoke to Rio, who allegedly ran a vice business with her boyfriend, Head.

Nuurul Aliyyah, the prostitute, went to the Frenchman's home just past midnight with Nur Azilah and the three other accused in separate taxis.

When she went up to his apartment, the others waited nearby. Mr Dominguez found out that she had not agreed to anal sex after talking to her.

When she called her alleged accomplices for help, they turned up later and assaulted Mr Dominguez.

They punched, kicked and stamped on him before fleeing to Park Hotel near Clarke Quay.

The police, acting on information, arrested the group in an ambush at Arab Street the next day.

After her arrest, Nur Azilah's urine samples were found to contain traces of Ice.

She admitted to taking the drug with Nuurul Aliyyah in a room at the hotel on March 3.

For voluntarily causing grievous hurt, she could have been jailed up to 10 years and fined.

For consuming Ice, she could have been jailed up to 10 years and fined up to $20,000.
