Woman left unconscious in kitchen as thieves take off with jewellery

Two robbers beat up a 74-year-old grandmother until she fainted after breaking into her flat in Kangkar Pulai, Johor, reported Berita Harian.

Relating the incident, Zainun Baharon said the robbers attacked her at around 5.30pm on Tuesday while she was in the kitchen.

Zainun, who lives alone, said the suspects punched her eye and hit her head and back with a stick, causing her to faint.

"Once I regained consciousness, I realised that the men had stolen my chain and bangle," she said when met at her home.

Zainun's daughter, Jamaliah Shariff, 50, said she was shocked when neighbours informed her about the crime.

"I had just visited my mother about two hours before she was robbed," she said, adding that she then told her neighbour to rush her mother to the nearest clinic for treatment.

The clinic recommended that Zainun be sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital and to lodge a police report.
