Woman who dumped newborn in washing machine given bail pending DNA report
A padi farmer had a shock when he found a newborn baby girl inside a washing machine.

ALOR SETAR: A 38-year-old woman who was arrested for allegedly dumping her newborn into a washing machine has been given police bail pending a DNA report.

The woman was arrested on 29th October and remanded for 4 days until Monday.

Yan District Police Chief Deputy Superintendent Police (DSP) Muhamad Halim Yatim said the case investigations papers had been referred to the State Deputy Public Prosecution office on Nov 1.

"No charge will proceed until the DNA reports have been obtained. The blood samples of the baby, the suspect and her husband have been taken and had sent to Chemist Department,"

It was reported that padi farmer Zainol Hamid, 71, the woman's father-in-law, was watching TV in the house when he heard a baby crying last Tuesday night. He traced the cries to the washing machine. The baby's umbilical cord was still intact.
