Woman who threw son from 10th storey found not guilty of murder
A woman threw her then 6-year-old son off the 10th floor of a HDB flat in Ang Mo Kio in 1984

SINGAPORE - A woman who threw her 6-year-old son down from the 10th storey of an HDB block in 1984 has been acquitted on Monday morning of murder.

Shin Min Daily News reported that Yang Qiqing, alias Huang Peihong, now 60 years old, had been remanded at the Institute of Mental Health for the last 30 years.

She has been diagnosed with chronic schizophrenia. 

The victim, who was the youngest of four children, died of his injuries, which included a broken rib which ruptured a major artery.

The tragedy occurred at Block 215 in Ang Mo Kio.

As Yang was acquitted on account of her mental illness, she is not allowed to live together with her remaining children.
