Worker charged with stealing chicken

KUALA LUMPUR - A worker of a fast-food chain has been charged with stealing eight live chicken.

Myanmar national Micheal Shwa Za Thang claimed trial to the charge in a magistrate's court here yesterday.

The 34-year-old is accused of stealing the poultry, worth about RM80 (S$30), from Pudu Frozen Trading in Dang Wangi here at about 8.55pm on April 17. He was arrested the next day.

Under Section 379 of the Penal Code, Shwa faces up to seven years in jail, a fine or both upon conviction.

Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin set June 5 for the mention.
