SINGAPORE - The Workers' Party (WP) had filed a motion on Jan 15 to ask for the Non-Constituency Member of Parliament (NCMP) seat that was offered to Ms Lee Li Lian, to be declared vacant and for Associate Professor Daniel Goh to occupy it instead.
In a statement released by WP chairman, Sylvia Lim, the party added that the motion was filed by Secretary-General Low Thia Khiang.
Ms Lee, 37, was offered the seat after securing the highest percentage of votes among losing candidates during the General Election last year.
She declined the seat and was absent for Parliament's first sitting on Friday.
She lost her seat in Punggol East to People Action Party's (PAP) Charles Chong.
According to Ms Lim, the issue is expected to be up for debate when parliament sits next week.
