Six teen cyclists to undergo surgery

JOHOR BARU: Six of the teenage cyclists injured in the horiffic accident at Jalan Lingkaran Dalam will undergo surgery at Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) Sunday.

State Environment and Health committee chairman Datuk Ayub Rahmat said that the other two cyclists are still being warded at the hospital's intensive care unit (ICU).

"All of the six injured patients are in a stable condition," Ayub said in a statement on Sunday.

The two in ICU have been identified as Muhammad Nazri Mahmudi, 14, and Mohamed Shamizal Iqmal Abdullah, 16.

The six others are Mohammad Arasshat Abdullah, 14, Muhammad Arif Salman, 15, Muhamad Farhan Che Mat, 16, Abdul Samad Abdul Kadir, 16, Muhammad Fitri Muham­mad Fatoni, 17, and Muhammad Zulfadli Yusri, 19.

They suffered injury to their limbs and heads.

A group of eight teenage cyclists were killed in the accident on Saturday when a car driven by a woman ploughed into them at about 3.30am near the Mahmoodiah Muslim cemetery.
