"A tribute to Tan Ley Pin.. my beloved mom!"

My mom is super
Not because she has a cape like a Wonder Woman
But because she gave us her unlimited love at any moment

When I was younger
And she was still stronger
She slept only a few hours every day
And although her body is tired, she never complained ‘Wo hen lei..’*

She took care of the whole family
Not only my father, my sister, my brother and me
But also the whole extended family
She did the chores, cooked, and also managed to earn some extra money

My mom did everything she could
She was a seamstress and a caterer too
And most of the time she would sell food
Just because she didn’t want us to quit school

I was once hospitalized
And she was by my side
I caught her praying and crying
Asking God for a healing

When I finished my university
And found myself working hard in a good company
She fell down from a stool and hit a pot of boiling water
And ended up suffering from the burns in the hospital

Now that I am a mother of two, I often look back
And ask myself, how did this old mama managed to survive
The only answer that keeps coming back
Is that she has the love for us that keeps her alive

She still has her nags and pouts
When things go wrong or not in her favour
But the grandchildren love her without any doubts
Coz she still carries with her, the same care and love forever

So my mom is super
Because …well... she IS indeed SUPER!

Note: ‘Wo hen lei’ is the Mandarin for ‘I’m very tired’.
