6. Coupon Fun

Design and print out a set of "fun" coupons for your mom so that she can claim it from you anytime. For example, the coupons could redeem your mom a day of shopping with you, a day for brunch with you, for doing the laundry for the day and more.

Of course, do let your mom know that with or without coupon, you will be glad to do these things with her any time.

Be creative and be sure to stick to your promises!

Or maybe, along with the coupons, you could package it together with little trinkettes of your mom's favourite things in a small box. This way, with an array of gifts, you know that there will something your mom bound to like in that little box.

7. Movie magic

Movie buffs, listen up! This Mother's Day you can shake things up a little by having a DVD marathon at home.

Pick up DVD titles that you and your mom will like. Think chick flicks like "In her Shoes", "Definitely, Maybe", "The Devil Wears Prada", etc.

You can’t go wrong with classics like "Breakfast at Tiffany's" and "Roman Holiday" as it would make a good reel for mom if she appreciates the works of Audrey Hepburn.

8. Morning surprise

If you find yourself waking up midday on weekends, why not make an exception this Mother's Day and get an early headstart?

Surprise your mom with breakfast in bed with the best Singaporean delights, with recommendation from foodie guides like Makan Sutra.

Be it the carrot cake your mom loves from Lor 1 Toa Payoh or that crispy roti prata from Jalan Kayu, your mom will be pleased to know that you literally went the extra mile.

To make her day far better, suggest a morning walk at the Botanical Gardens. A refreshing stroll will allow your mom to unwind in the goodness of Mother Nature, a respite from tiring household chores.

9. All dressed up

Remember how fun it was to play dress-up when you were a little girl? Have that very same fun with mom and dig out all her vintage finds in her younger days

Have a dress-up theme on Mother's Day like "pretty in pink", or bring out the rocker mom in her. Be creative and most importantly, have fun and get a good laugh out of it.

Alternatively, you could go window shopping with your mom and get her to try on clothes outside of her normal wardrobe. You will have so much fun with your mom, seeing a totally different side to her and who knows, you might just trigger off the fashionable diva in your mom.

10. Let's go sight-seeing

Take your mom out to places that she has never been to and give her an eye-opening experience.

Places that have been revamped throughout the years like Haji Lane and Ann Siang Hill might give your mom a nostalgic taste for her younger days.

Make your mom feel like a queen at Pluck, Haji Lane, where she can enjoy affordable ice cream in the comfort of red velvet cushioned seats. A simple set up with sensational ice cream, your mom is sure to have a taste of heaven.

Or how about bringing your mom to Pulau Ubin? She can relive her the kampung days and who knows, she might just end up telling you some anecdotes from her younger days.
