When real life imitates reel life, it can add up to quite comedic effects.
If you've been to enough SFF shows this year, you would have seen the Mastercard ad that has been played ad nauseum just before the beginning of every runway show.
And if you pay attention to it, you would know that little snippet where Mastercard ambassador Denise Keller - who famously fronts their ad campaigns - walks to her front row seat at a fashion show and stands out in an amethyst-coloured dress in a sea of boring black. "Not following, $3,000", reads the tagline that appears after this scene.
And when that fictional fashion show begins, models stream down the runway in similar looking dresses that she was featured prancing around in earlier, making her look like a fashion victim with no style sense of her own. Then the comeback tagline reads: "Leading, priceless".
Well, Denise was spotted in the front row last week, attending a London-trained local designer's show.
She had on a lovely number in white and silver, and looked like a million dollars while waiting for the runway show to start. As the lights dimmed and the show began, she was still seen wearing a slight smile, until, horror of horrors! A model wearing the same exact outfit as her came onto the runway.
Observers may have seen the sparkle in her eyes dim just that little as she watched her ad being acted out in front of her like a nightmare, but kudos to her as she quickly caught herself, wiped off that look of indignation and recomposed herself to become the charming and lovely Mastercard ambassador again.
