Miss Yan, 26, a PR executive, was excited when she came across The AsiaOne Great Marriage Proposal Contest while surfing the site.

She sent in her entry, hoping that AsiaOne would be able to document this important moment in her life.

In her ideal marriage proposal, there would be great food, beautiful flowers, and fantastic scenery to act as the backdrop during the date.

Miss Yan said: "Mine was not really a proposal, since he has asked me to marry him back in December, although I haven't really accepted it.

"But since it is Valentine's Day, I wanted to give him my answer, as well as a nice surprise."

Unfortunately, as typical Singaporean males went, none of the above were present when her boyfriend, Mr Ng Keng Wei, 28, popped the question last December. Instead, they were on vacation, and she was not in the best of moods because the holiday was not going as planned.

In the end, Miss Yan did not get around to saying "I do".

To make up for that, she thought of a way to accept his proposal and submitted her entry to AsiaOne. And for being so thoughtful as to think of an marriage acceptance, Miss Yan and Mr Ng were rewarded with a Valentine's Day dinner at the Pan Pacific hotel and a night's stay at the hotel.

Second prize of a Valentine's Day dinner at Heat ultralounge at Royal Plaza on Scotts went to Mr Freddie C. Buenaflor, and third prize of a pair of Philips MP3 players goes to Mr Alvin Chua for their very creative marriage proposals. Congratulations! We will be in touch with you very soon!
