Situated behind Newton Food Centre where Monk's Hill Secondary School used to be, District 10 is a casual bistro that serves up fusion dishes. Surrounded by shady trees and with natural wood furniture scattered around the alfresco area, it is a great place to chill-out with friends.
This bistro is made for hanging out with pals. Close to the entrance is a huge wooden table large enough to seat at least fifteen people. We suggest choosing a bottle of wine from their wide selection of wine (all arranged according to price) and enjoying it in the cool night air. Or just munch on a dessert and soak in the relaxing atmosphere, complete with soft lighting and sounds of trickling water.
Food portions are huge, so bring along more friends if you want to try more variety.
We can't get enough of the laid-back and casual atmosphere. Once you sink into the comfy chairs you don't feel like getting up again.
Portions
Very large, perfect for sharing among friends. And even after sharing, expect to walk away full!
Setting
Though they have an indoor dining area, eat at the alfresco dining area. Tables are scattered around an old palm tree that is surrounded by a beautiful water feature, giving a sense of peacefulness. And best of all, you need not worry about the hot weather. The entire area is covered by shady trees, giving you and your friends a perfect opportunity to chat and enjoy the atmosphere. It is especially enjoyable in the evening.
Must-tries • Homemade duck spring rolls ($10): tasty strips of duck meat surrounded by a crispy skin and accompanied with a sweet sauce. It comes in bite-sized portions. Good for a starter.
• Tiramisu with mocha sauce ($9): The best part of the cake is that it isn't too heavy, so the taste doesn't overwhelm you.
• Pizza parma ($19): Their thin-crust pizza is perfect for sharing with friends. You don't have to worry about stuffing yourself with the crust as the pizza's base is light and crunchy and complements the strong taste of the Pama ham.
Price factor
Because the dishes come in huge portions, it's good for sharing with friends. If you're looking into having a full course meal, it's safe to budget at around at least 30 dollars per head.
